Black Friday 2026: Dates, Deals and How to Actually Save

Posts by Garden0 Comments

Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November, and Cyber Monday on Monday 30 November. In practice, the sales period runs much longer than those two dates: the first offers appear in early November, the serious ones land in the week of 23 November, and clearance deals continue into the first days of December.

This guide covers the dates, what actually happens to prices during the period, and how to prepare so you are not making decisions at speed while a one-day code counts down. Live offers from the brands we work with are collected on our Black Friday page, updated as they go live.

Black Friday always falls on the Friday after the fourth Thursday in November, which is why the date moves each year. It landed on 28 November in 2025 and will fall on 26 November in 2027.

Why the date matters less than it used to

The single-day Black Friday is mostly a memory. Brands now spread their campaigns across three or four weeks, for a practical reason: a one-day rush is hard on warehouses, customer service and delivery partners, and much of the stock can be sold just as well across a fortnight.

For a shopper, this changes the strategy completely. The question is no longer “will I catch the deal on the day” but “is this the best version of the deal I will see this month”. The answer usually becomes clear by the week of 23 November, when the main campaigns are out and comparable.

There is one exception worth planning for. The strongest codes — the ones that take an extra percentage off an entire range — are often issued for a single day or a weekend. Those still require you to be ready rather than browsing.

The three kinds of “deal” you will see

Everything in November gets called a Black Friday deal. These are three different things, and only two of them are worth planning around.

1. A genuine price reduction

The product is sold for less than it has been in recent months. This is most common where a retailer wants to clear seasonal stock: outdoor furniture and cushions at the end of the growing season, gift sets that will not sell in January, last season’s colours and sizes.

This is the most valuable kind and the hardest to verify from inside the sale. The fix is to look before the sale starts, not during it.

2. A code applied on top of normal pricing

The shelf price does not move, but a percentage or a fixed amount comes off at checkout. This is the most common type, and the easiest to judge, because the saving is stated plainly: 20% off a brand, £20 off a £100 order, free delivery with no minimum.

These codes are also where the conditions live, which is the next section.

3. A standing offer with a seasonal label

A discount that ran in September and will run again in January, renamed for the period. Nothing wrong with taking it if you were buying anyway — but there is no urgency, and no reason to let it pull forward a purchase you were not planning.

How to tell them apart: note the price of two or three things you actually want in the first week of November. Write down the number. When the sale arrives, compare the final checkout total — not the headline percentage — against what you wrote down. That one habit removes most of the guesswork.

Read the conditions, not the headline

Two codes advertised as “20% off” can be worth very different amounts. These are the conditions that change the number, in rough order of how often they catch people out.

  • Minimum spend. A percentage that only applies above a threshold. Useful if you are buying several things, worthless for one small item.
  • Limited to one brand within a shop. Common in beauty, where a retailer stocks dozens of brands and the code covers one of them. A 20% code on the brand you actually buy beats a 10% code on everything.
  • Excludes sale items. The biggest trap of the period: during a sale, most of the catalogue is a sale item, which can leave the code applying to almost nothing.
  • One code per order. Almost universal. If several codes apply to your basket, you are choosing between them, not stacking them.
  • One use per customer. Standard on first-order and welcome codes.
  • Account required. Many codes simply do not work at guest checkout.
  • Delivery charged separately. A percentage off goods can be cancelled out by delivery on a bulky item.

Every offer we list shows its conditions and its expiry date next to the code, so you can check these before you click through rather than at the payment screen.

What to do before 27 November

Five things, none of which take long, and all of which are much harder to do while a one-day code is running.

Write the list first. Decide what you need in the first half of November, before the marketing starts. A discount on something you were not going to buy is not a saving, and the whole period is engineered to blur that line.

Record the current prices. Three or four items, one line each. This is the only reliable way to judge a sale price from inside the sale.

Create the accounts now. Set up logins at the shops on your list, and sign up to their newsletters if a welcome discount is offered — those codes often arrive by email and are frequently first-order only. Doing this on the day costs you the window.

Check delivery cut-offs if the purchase is a gift. Sale periods put pressure on dispatch. The last reliable order date is usually published by the retailer in late November, and it matters more than another two percent off.

Decide your walk-away point. If a code does not apply, the item is out of stock in your size, or delivery pushes the total past what you planned, stop. There is another sales period in January.

Where the real savings tend to be, by category

Different sectors behave differently in November. This is what the pattern looks like across the brands we work with.

Beauty and skincare

Professional skincare is rarely discounted during the year, which makes this period genuinely unusual rather than theatrical. The structure to watch for is the brand-specific code: a retailer stocking many brands issues separate codes for each, refreshed monthly, alongside short site-wide codes that run for a day or a weekend. If you already know which brand you buy, waiting for its code usually beats taking a general discount. You can see how that works on our Pure Beauty page, and Perfume Click for fragrance, where the mechanic is different again: money off each additional item rather than a percentage.

Garden and outdoor

November is the quiet season, so the discounts follow the planting calendar rather than the retail one. Expect offers on what goes in the ground in autumn and winter, and on outdoor stock that will not sell again until spring. Spend thresholds dominate here, which suits gardening well: seeds and bulbs keep, so planning a whole season in one order is both cheaper and sensible. See Dobies for seeds and bulbs, and Gardenista for outdoor cushions.

Mobile and SIM plans

Here the saving is rarely a percentage. It arrives as something added: extra data on a plan, or credit applied when a SIM is activated. The important detail is when the code is entered — activation, not checkout — which catches people out even outside the sales period. 1pMobile is a clear example of the pattern.

Health and pharmacy

This category is the most restrained, and that is appropriate. Offers tend to cover services and delivery rather than medicines themselves, and anything prescription-based still goes through a consultation regardless of a discount. A code never replaces medical advice — see Click Pharmacy.

Cyber Monday 2026: is it different?

Cyber Monday 2026 falls on Monday 30 November, with electronics and digital services discounted

Cyber Monday falls on 30 November 2026. It began as a separate event for online-only retailers, at a time when the Friday belonged to physical shops and the Monday was when people returned to an office connection fast enough to shop on. That distinction has largely disappeared.

What remains is a mild tilt in what gets discounted. Electronics, software, subscriptions and digital services are still more prominent on the Monday, and some retailers deliberately hold a second wave of offers for it rather than running one continuous sale. If what you want is physical goods, the Friday weekend is usually the better target; if it is a subscription or a digital product, the Monday is worth waiting for.

Common reasons a code fails at checkout

If a code is rejected, it is almost always one of these, and most are fixable in under a minute.

  • You are checking out as a guest. Log in or create an account and try again.
  • The basket is below the minimum. Check the threshold in the offer conditions.
  • Items in the basket are excluded. Sale items, gift cards and bulky delivery items are the usual exclusions.
  • The code belongs to a different brand or category than what is in the basket.
  • It has expired. The strongest codes are often same-day — check the end date.
  • You have used it before. First-order and welcome codes work once per customer.
  • Another discount is already applied. One per order is the rule nearly everywhere.

How we list offers

Everything on Codes Garden comes from the brands we work with through their official affiliate programmes, not from scraping other sites or collecting user submissions. Each offer shows its conditions and expiry date, and expired offers are moved out of the main list rather than left on the page.

This matters most in November, when the volume of offers is highest and the gap between a real discount and a repackaged one is widest. If we do not have a code for a brand, the page says so instead of padding the list.

Frequently asked questions

When is Black Friday 2026?

Friday 27 November 2026. It always falls on the Friday after the fourth Thursday in November.

When is Cyber Monday 2026?

Monday 30 November 2026, three days after Black Friday.

When do Black Friday deals actually start?

The first offers usually appear in early November, but the main campaigns launch in the week of 23 November. Early November offers are often standing discounts with a seasonal label.

Is it better to buy on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

For physical goods, the Friday and the weekend after it. For electronics, software and subscriptions, the Monday is more likely to carry the stronger offer.

Do Black Friday prices drop further in December?

Sometimes, on whatever has not sold. December clearance usually comes with tighter conditions and a thinner choice of sizes and variants, so it is a gamble rather than a strategy.

Can I use two discount codes on one order?

Almost never. Nearly every retailer allows one code per order, so pick the one that saves most on your basket total.

Why is a Black Friday code not working?

The most common causes are guest checkout, a basket below the minimum spend, excluded sale items, or an expired code. Check the conditions listed with the offer before you click through.

In short

Black Friday 2026 is on 27 November and Cyber Monday on 30 November, but the period that matters starts around 23 November and runs into early December. Decide what you need before the marketing starts, write down today’s prices, set up your accounts in advance, and read the conditions rather than the percentage.
